Mental Health

Nuron

We live in a fast paced world where individuals are competing with one other to achieve their goals and thereby a good lifestyle. Although tempting, it gets exhausting absorbing new information the world feeds us on a daily basis.

An individual being overwhelmed is pretty common considering we are living in an era of continuous change. With the ‘ever-changing’ dynamic comes a plethora of issues like stress, fatigue, breakdowns and burnouts that affect us on a daily basis. Everyone talks about wanting change but no one talks about ways to embrace change and things that accompany it.

Mental Health as defined by the WHO refers to a person’s psychological, emotional, and social well-being; it influences what they feel and how they think, and behave. Mental health also involves keeping our minds healthy. Mankind generally is more focused on keeping their physical body healthy that they tend to ignore the state of their minds.

According to research conducted on adults, mental illness affects 19% of the adult population. Nearly one in every five children and adolescents on the globe is prone to mental illness. Depression, which affects 246 million people worldwide, is one of the leading causes of disability. If mental illness is not treated at the correct time then the consequences can be grave.

On 22nd of September 2022, we at Nuron organized a campaign on Mental Health Awareness called – “You Can Create Your Own Destiny “.The program was organized in The Domlur Government College. with the objective of helping students gain an insight on the importance of mental health and also realize that each individual has the ability to achieve their goals and dreams and recognize that the resources they are looking for outside actually lies within.

The program was facilitated by Aashwasan Foundation, an organization aiming to transform people’s lives. The students were very proactive in participating in the program. Many spoke about their dreams. There was a shift in their perspective towards their dreams. They had more clarity on how believing and constantly working towards one’s dreams despite all obstacles can help reaching towards one’s goals. The campaign was thereby a huge success.

We at Nuron believe in associating ourselves in social causes like creating awareness on mental health, supporting children with neurodiversity and their families in every way possible. We will continue doing our bit by associating ourselves with such social causes.
